I'm building Centriq to ease the pain

Recently, my home was burglarized. I was at work, building Centriq, and my wife and toddler were out running errands. They returned mid-day to find that someone had pried open a door and ransacked the house. Losing my new Ducati motorcycle was a blow, as were the camera, laptops and all the other electronics. My wife lost all her jewelry including pieces passed down from her late grandmother.

Anyone who has been through this knows how painful and violating it feels. But, as if that’s not enough, now I’m in a dispute with the insurance company because they want to give nickels on the dollar for everything that was stolen. They claim they have no choice because I can’t prove my wife actually owned the jewelry we’re claiming. They recovered the Ducati but I don’t have the receipts for my mountain bike nor most of my stereo equipment to prove its original value. Same for all my wife’s purchased jewelry. And to add insult to injury, the police recovered an iPad from a local suspect but they won’t even let me look to see if it’s mine because I don’t have a serial number for them to match.

This fiasco inspired my co-founder, Shubber, and I to enhance Centriq to make building a home inventory easy. I dare say, even fun. I’d had the task on my to-do list for years but never got around to it because there was no easy way. We believe that now there is. It’s super-easy to store photos of all of your possessions along with receipts. And if you submit a nameplate photo (that label with the make, model and serial number), Centriq automatically transcribes it so you don’t have to.

If I’d had Centriq at the time, I could have sent the details and supporting receipts to my insurance claim adjuster in a small fraction of the time the process took and I’d actually recover fair value and maybe even get some of our stuff back. (Without photos, there’s zero chance of getting grandma’s jewelry back)
